Our database has improved the issues relating to inefficiency caused by a paper system. It does this by keeping a log of all students who sign in and out of a study appointment or tutoring session. The previous paper system was inefficient because it was unreliable, and information about athletes and their study appointments could be easily misplaced or lost. Having a database also eliminates the issue of having a written piece of paper with study appointments, which may have illegible writing on it.

The hours that athletes are required to have are reported on the "Athlete Current Hours" Report, as well as the hours they currently hold. If an athlete does not have a sufficient number of hours for that week, their hours will be written in red. We also have a report titled "Study Appointments" which keeps a log of all student athlete study appointments/tutoring sessions. This way it is easy for a database user to go back as far as they need to to see who and when had a study appointment, so you can see who hasn't completed their hours for an extended period of time, and vice versa.
Our "Athlete Information" Report lists all student athletes, and groups them by class. The "Coaches and Athletes" Grouped Report has a list of all Coaches, with their respective athletes. Lastly, our "Hours Required by Team" Report contains a list of all athletic teams, their coach, and the respective number of required study hours each coach has chosen for their athletes. |
